Years ago in an old church hall I played the Bach double with my Dad on violin, and a wonderful Pianist (DS).
Through a misunderstanding (I was at away at University) I had practiced the C minor, and my Dad and DS had rehearsed in D - but I moved to the D minor quickly, we played it through a couple of times and pronounced ourselves ready for performance.
On the day of the performance we got to the hall and discovered that the piano was almost a tone flat. But I had both copies with me, and a slightly sharp reed.... Dad tuned his fiddle down a tone (he sounded a little soggy), and I played from my C-minor copy!
I swear this story is true!
