After a summer and fall of really good discussions on this Forum (kudos to all who have contributed so well and thanks to all those who have asked the stimulating questions), I have started a blog. It should be interesting to almost everyone here and I hope many of you will post comments on it to keep it as alive as this forum is.
Any one else with similar blogs, please let us know: the more the merrier as we will each have different angles of exploration. Mine is at http://RobinDesHautbois.blogspot.com/.
It will center on my journey to get back the skills I have lost after too many years of neglect (the incalculable price of becoming an engineer) as well as overcoming some physical difficulties that I hope none of you ever know..... though some of you might know much worse.
This should be interesting and useful (especially if you prompt with comments) to serious students trying to improve or achieve specific goals, old-timers who want to get back into it, beginners who want a taste of what's in store for them, amateurs who want to share their experience and anyone who wants to help others share the fantastic joy that comes from playing instruments of the oboe family.
Seriously, I think our instrument is the greatest (and I have played pretty much everything else at some time) and I think sharing the joy of hearing and playing it to be a treasure in itself.
Cheers, and hope to see you there!
