Glad to see you've joined the fold.

I'm not sure how much of this you've already heard so skip the parts that are unecessary. Left hand goes on top, right on bottom. There is a group of five keys, just above a divided circle of sorts. Out of those five, place your index finger on the second from the top, your middle finger on the fourth, and your ring finger on the fifth. Rest you pinky on the circle. On the side near your body towards the top of the horn you will find two closed keys and another key with no pad attached anywhere near it. That key with no pad is the octave key. Place your left thumb on that. There are three keys for the right hand. Index finger on top, middle in middle, ring on bottom, and just below these and towards your body you will find another circle (if you use your imagination some), this one divided in half. Rest your pinky on that. Your thumb will go under the thumb-rest just under the closed key near the bottom of the horn.

Now that you have your fingers in the right places, a C natural scale goes like this:

Middle C - left middle finger
D - octave, left and right index, middle, ring
E - octave, left index, middle, ring, right index, middle
F - octave, left index, middle, ring, right index
G - octave, left index, middle, ring
A - octave, left index, middle
B - octave, left index
High C - octave, left middle

For other key signatures and for accidentals you will prabably do better to get a hold of a pictoral fingering chart.

Hope this helps.
