I have an issue with this type of posture, and I constantly have to remind myself to hold my oboe up. I also keep my arms too close to my rib cage which doesn't help with the air support. When my elbows are held out, the tone is better. My teacher tells me to hold the oboe up and blow over it.
Bad habits are difficult to break.
Craig Bender, the woodwind technician in Eugene, noticed the arms too close to the ribs.....again. By the way, Olive Oboe is in good shape now, and sounds so much better.
