And also consider one with either a plastic top joint or all plastic. Fox offer plastic top joint cors, and Howarth have made plastic top joint cors as well for the US market.

The Howarth cors (student, intermediate and pro models) are now offered with a partially lined top joint bore which protects the most vulnerable part of the bore where cracks are most likely to happen, so their outward appearance is all wood.
