It is something of a hypothetical question at the moment as I don't have a particular cor anglais in mind.
I have learnt the oboe in France which is why I have an oboe with the Gillet system and I would like a cor anglais because I love their sound. As I will only ever be playing for pleasure I can't really justify the money for a brand new one and have been looking (admittedly in a rather off-hand manner) for a second hand one for over a year. I have come to the conclusion that second hand cor anglais are almost non-existent in France whereas I have come across a number of second-hand thumb plate cor anglais for sale in the UK.
