It is possible, but it's better having the same system for both oboe and cor to make doubling much easier.
If it's a Gillet system cor with an added thumbplate (dual system), then it should be easy to remove the thumbplate to convert it back to Gillet system.
Is this cor a purely thumbplate system where Bb and C are only playable by taking the thumb off the plate, and the side key duplicates the thumbplate action?
Having played on dual system since I took up oboe again I prefer to use the conservatoire fingerings, and have little trouble playing on a Gillet system without an added thumblate. But I can't get on with thumbplate system instruments at all - I really struggle with them, especially whenever a Bb or C is involved.
What make is this cor anglais? I know thumbplate system was used in France for a while in the 19th Century (though is still used in the UK to this day), and the only thumbplate system ones made more recently are mainly English, and Italian and German built ones for the UK market.
