I believe that plumbers teflon tape can also be wound around the tip of the bocal (just a small bit). I haven't tried it yet but I plan to today; thanks for reminding me, BBoard!
This would be better than tubing I think because 1. you can get the reed off quickly and 2. It isn't visually obvious. Since I haven't tried it yet, I don't know how well it will stand up to repeated "reed removals", but I know the tape is really tough and clingy from using it on actual plumbing.
