Hi Katy,

Don't try to pick up exactly where you left off - use softer reeds to begin with to get your lip and breathing back in, and start with easier pieces and studies rather than jumping straight into your old and the more difficult grade 8 music. And with time you can build up your stamina, sound and technique up to where you once were again. Are there any local orchestras or bands you could join?
