I only have a Loree 1 and 2 bocal. So far, they have served me well.
I have tried other bocals and found them to offer significant benefits, but since they were not for sale, so what!???
My Loree cor is circa 1983, still plays very well, and has no 3rd octave key.
I have played newer vintage Loree cors and thought they had some advantages over mine. Especially so in the 3rd octave.
Still, cor is cor, and called swine horn by some for a good reason. As I mentioned to OhSuzan recently, you need put the sizzle in the pan where cor is concerned. Fry the bacon!!!
A paraphrase of something Dick White taught me for sure, but it has a nice sound to it, eh?
Seriously, listen to Pat McFarland's recordings and you will see what I mean and I think they illustrate what Dick White meant. That man was a great teacher and played some awesome ehorn.
