Hi Peter,

My understanding is that Laubin makes somewhere between 50 and 100 oboes a year...Loree makes over 1100...what do you think the waiting list would be for Lorees if they only made 100 oboes a year? I know someone who bought a Laubin English Horn after being on the waiting list for 7 years. She got a call one day and said, it's done, you have a week to decide if you want it. Like that. Laubin is no doubt a magnificent instrument...but I wouldn't get too starstruck by the scarcity factor. Just make sure if you go Loree that you try out a bunch...each oboe is different in subtle and not so subtle ways.
