Because the rules are very explicit - there can be no mention of ongoing auctions. There are no "unnamed moderators": there's myself and GBK.

Not so many years ago there were a small number (I believe) of eBay sellers who would create multiple screen names here and then ask the innocuous "I saw this _____ on eBay and was wondering if it _____" to drive business to them. Since there's no way I could cross reference each and every one of them, I made the rule to disallow any references to current auctions.

We've found a few companies over the years who have done the same. Those postings have been deleted and the companies warned about deceptive sales tactics. We also try & check out posters who are recommending equipment to make sure that they're not officially a part of the company who's equipment they're recommending or if they are, that they're upfront about it. We don't want to shut down that kind of information, but we want people to be able to fairly evaluate the comments.

Sometimes things slip through, but we try & catch most of them.
