Have you ever noticed that these days (maybe for many years already but i just noticed) oboists seem to move their instruments around like they're in some sort of dance trance when they play? Is that to get them in the right mood? Is it to enhance the 'look' of the performance? Does it help fingering technique to move the oboe around like a charmed snake? Or is it some illicit Freudian ritual?
What's up with that?
