First, thanks to my friends on the BBoard for the enthusiastic response to my playing with Oxymora. Thundering Silence was originally done a while back and re-released with a couple new tunes in 2006. More to come with a new release ASAP. This is seriously fun stuff and I am very happy to be doing more with my old friends.
And secondly, but perhaps this should really be first, I consider Paul McCandless (Oregon, Paul Winter Consort, etc.) the true master of the genre.
Oregon in Moscow is simply fantastic,... also check out Oregon at Yoshi's, Northwest Passage, Beyond Words, Distant Hills, Troika, Ecotopia and definitley check out earlier works Out of The Woods and Roots in The Sky. There are others too, Oregon is simply amazing. McCandless plays oboe, ehorn, bass clarinet, soprano saxes, and wind controller mostly. Every album has at least a couple very special oboe and english horn pieces.
McCandless's own Cds are also very good...Heresey and Premonition are very good and feature his compositions, plus he did some work with Navigator.
It is a very respectable body of work. I got busy with IT and computer work for a couple decades, but now its all oboe again and I am a happy man!
Enjoy the diversity!
-Craig
