Hi Ember --
Welcome to the group. This board is pretty quiet most of the time, but I have had some very good responses to specific questions I have raised. There are helpful and knowledgeable people here -- they just don't spend too much time online. Probably practising, instead . . .
Many of the folks on this board are advanced (college) players. I'm a beginner, pretty much -- though I'm not sure where the "beginner" status ends and the "intermediate" status begins. I have been playing less than a year, but things are going well. I used to worry about getting notes to sound at all, and why my upper register was so puny. Now I get all the notes all the time, the upper register is filling out, and my sound seems really pretty for whole phrases and more!
I am also a clarinetist of long standing, but I really, really love the oboe. I would rather play the oboe, period, end of paragraph. It just feels s-o-o-o good when it is going well. I never have felt that way about the clarinet. So I think perhaps I have found my instrument, at last.
Nice to meet you!
Susan
