There is an interesting article that appeared in the IDRS Journal on using saturated salt solutions and sealed plastic chambers for reed storage. The article was by Ronald H. Orcutt and William A. Roscoe. Enter "Reed Storage - A Simple Solution" in Google. I have used this technique on my wife's reeds. I did not see any obvious mold using non-iodize common salt (sodium chloride) for 75% relative humidity. From work that I used to do, this humidity level is pushing the boundaries for the start of organism development.
If you enter "saturated salt solutions" in google some of the sources show the various equilibrium relative humidities for various salt solutions at various temperatures.
From our experience in working with humidistats +/- 5% is the best accuracy you will get unless you spend quite a bit of money.
