I've read that between 40 and 60 % is where it ought to be. This winter, mine is staying there, according to the hygrometer in my case.

But I question whether it has as much to do with the Humistat I also keep in the case, as it does with the fact that we got a new central heating unit in our house this past year, with a built-in humidifier.

Last year, same oboe, same Humistat, but different furnace, left me at 40% and below all the time.
