Boehm System Oboe...Where can these be found?

I just recently heard of these and originally a clarinet player, I am particularly interested in them.

Are they just "experimental" instruments or can they actually be purchased by the public? If so, who makes them/where can they be found?

Has anyone played one? How do they sound and respond as compared to a regular oboe?
