I know some theories that dry is the way to go, so I religiously clean mine out every single time I put it away, even if it's just for 1 class period until I get it out again. I also make sure that I never leave it in my band room because extreme temperature changes are bad and you never know what the district is going to do with the heat. My oboe was bought used, so it was already cracked and repaired a little, but I'm trying to keep it nice.
