 planes and reeds

Hi,

Do any of you have tips to travel on a plane with reeds. Does the trip/altitude really affect a reed? The few times I took my oboe on a plane with me was to go on tour in Greece or in the Rocky Mountains (twice!). My reeds really freaked out, but it is hard to tell if it was because of the airplane ride or the sudden and extreme climate change. This time, I'm travelling for an audition and staying ''within the same climate''.
