Hi Richard,

It's nice to hear someone from Hong Kong! I am originally from Hong Kong as well. Loree is actually a French firm, so I would probably order directly from France, rather than through the US. Did your teacher recommend Loree? Have you considered other brands as well? Some other brands you may want to consider (for a professional model) include Marigaux, Rigoutat, Howarth etc.

Rates in Hong Kong are quite high, compared to the US. It wouldn't be fair to compare rates across vastly different cities/countries. I would be interested in knowing who your teacher is. You may send me a private message if you like.

Good luck with the oboe and I hope you will do well with your Grade 6 ABRSM exam! (I have taken so many exams with the ABRSM -- 10 in all I believe)
