According to Peter Hurd of oboes.us they are an excellent maker, of oboes, although he describes the cor Anglais as being stuffy. He also says they are likely to be fully automatic, which most players, particularly in the US and virtually everywhere else in the world except some players in Europe, would rather not play ( they can be tricky to adjust, and there are a lot of different fingerings, including most harmonics, that you cannot get.) Overhauls and repairs can be very expensive, so it would also really depend on how much needed to be done. A friend bought a cor Anglais on one of the auctions only to find warping of the bore and cracks that were not detected by the seller. If you really want a good oboe, you may be lucky on the auction sites, but you are better off purchasing from someone like Hannah's Oboes, Carlos Coehlo, or one of the other people in your country ( I assume, the US) that really know what they are selling. Also recommended is Peter Hurd of oboes.us
