I'm far enough along that I'm feeling ambitious enough to be learning the second movement of Beethoven's 7th, playing along with a CD. And it's right at my skill level. But the other movements are, well, quite a bit harder. Sixteenth notes, egad, and don't get me started on those 6/8 dotted eighths. I've never SEEN a sixteenth rest before, let alone know what to do with it.
So in order to fuel my ongoing fantasy of being First Oboe with the Vienna Philharmonic while still playing at the "Go Tell Aunt Rhodie" beginner's level, (hey, you have your little fantasies and I have mine :D ), are there any oboe orchestral parts out there that are dead-easy? I'm not talking about lots of rests; I'm talking about the skill level called for in the playing.
I'm talking "yawn-fest" boring here, people. I'm talking "lots of quarter notes and half notes, eighth notes only when marked moderato, and a conspicuous absence of sixteenth notes."
And nothing higher than a high C, please. I know there are fingerings for higher notes in the back of my Essential Elements 2 book, but I haven't gotten that far yet.
