 Second octave

Hey friends. I am from India and am a flute player. I recently picked up the pungi (Snake charmer's flute) and I can play one octave on it. But I am new to reed wood wind instruments and don't know how to reach the second octave/ register. I tried doubling the intensity of blow as I do in the flute. But that just produces noise and no notes. Can anyone help me please?
