Hi Stefaans
According to the liner notes of the Channel Classics CD L.A. Lebrun Oboe concertos (vol. 1) as performed by Bart Schneeman, the virtuoso Lebrun actually wrote a total of 14 oboe concertos + various pieces for oboe and soprano (his wife was a famous singer called Franziska Danzi). Schneeman has made an extensive research on Lebrun's life and works, so I believe we can trust this number of 14 concertos. Unfortunately the liner notes do not specify how many concertos were lost. I just re-read the liner notes of Holliger's double CD published by Deutsche Grammophon in the so-called Archiv Production series but there's alas no indication whatsoever whether there exists more than the 6 concertos performed on this release. Stefaans, where did you locate a 7th concerto ? Is it available on record ? I personally know only of the 6 concertos recorded by Holliger and Schneeman, that is:
- N°1 in D minor
- N°2 in G minor
- N°3 in C major
- N°4 in B flat major
- N°5 in C major
- N°6 in F major
By the way, the recent re-release of Schneeman's volume 2 on the SACD format offers an attractive bonus, a reconstruction of Beethoven's Largo from his Oboe concerto, based upon autograph sketches. See for instance the following url:

Was anyone here given the possibility to listen to that hitherto unrecorded piece (at least as far as I can tell) ?
Best wishes to everyone on this board for 2006
Laurent
