"I often get sharp pains in a headache form when I play"
Its sounds like you are building up a lot of pressure and these are few ways I can think of that will relieve that:
1. Use a softer reed.
2. Make sure embouchure is relaxed, but not leaky. Draw in the corners of your lips as if you were going to whistle and drop the jaw (still lips under teeth).
*Will allow reed to be as open and free as possible with less air restriction.
3. Whilst dropping the jaw also raise the soft palate on the roof of your mouth. Imagine the feeling of a really large egg in your mouth. (Soft palate = run your tongue from the roof of your mouth backwards till you hit "soft", that's it)
*You are increasing your mouth cavity space which relieve pressure buildup from using to small a space.
Regards,
Stephen (Piko)
