What an interesting project! And you are very capable of doing it! If you do it, I'd like to read your discussion of it and see photos. Good luck on it!
One concern I have is that adding a low A to an oboe would bring on or enhance some instability to some note or notes in the middle of the second register. My late teacher was often concerned about the instability of F2 or F#2 on Loree oboes and suggested adding the low B key to stabilize them. Loree apparently has changed the acoustic design at some point so this may not be a problem on oboes made after 1980 or so. They may have just shifted it lower as the E2 on my instruments is the most unstable note, especially with unstable reeds. There is a simple explanation of these instabilities.
When I added a plastic pipe extension to my Loree EH (or CA) to play the low Bbs in a Mahler piece, I thought it changed some of the higher notes, but have forgotten the details. As it is, there are instabilities in the G2 and Ab2 which need fingering changes, even without the extension.
