. Since you already have a musical background, a teacher available and no greater issues with fine motor skills, there should be nothing in your way. It's all about your own motivation. I started fairly old too (15), with no prior experience on woodwinds (I couldn't even read music) and now, after five years, I've achieved the level where people usually get after 10 years of playing. I don't think there's anything in oboe you couldn't learn as an adult, and adult learners are also often more efficient in their practice.
