Hi Chris,
The only time I lay down the oboe is when I place it back into its case after practice and it does not rest on its keys. As is my general practice I place the oboe on a floor peg to prevent any damage to the keys.
Thanks for the information...additional tidbits always come in handy for taking care of my "baby".
I'll let you know how things turn out when my oboe returns from the shop.
