Thanks for the insights...

I really should have said "plastic" instead of "composite", which includes plastics, Buffet's Greenline, and the bakelite used by the Noblet works in the 1950s.

I did run into a local oboist today and she echoed the guidance above: get a plastic Signet off of eBay. I think I will!
