I would look for a plastic oboe as opposed to a composite. The composites lack the tensile strength to survive harsh treatment, especially around the top-joint tenon, and wooden oboes are too susceptible to humidity and/or temperature changes (there have been heated arguments about this on this board, but since low ambient temperatures mean low ambient humidity, the results are the same) - stresses in the wood can cause cracking, especially in the area of the C# and D trill keys.
