It's sometimes pretty hard to play with the team when there's no pitch centre...because you're never 'in tune'! I remember the first time that I played with a professional group, I thought that it was going to be so much harder, but it was about 10 times easier as playing amateur groups! Because there was a strong pitch centre and everyone listened, it was easy to just fit right into the sound. Sometimes I wish that eveveryone would just spend 2 weeks of their life learning how to play totally in pitch and in rhythm...how much better our orchestras would sound!!
