Thanks for the helpful reply. My oboe is a Buffet and I've only had it one year, purchased new. I've never oiled the bore in all that time. Is this something I should be doing or should have already done? I am (obviously) new to this.... I've been playing for a year and I've only had 10 to 12 sporadic lessons with a teacher, mostly on embouchure and beginning technique.
If I do oil the bore, will any feather work? (We have chickens and guinea hens). Do I put the oil directly on the feather and swab it around in the bore? How much oil?
Is oiling necessary, or am I okay to not oil at all? And if I do oil, how often does it need to be done?
I know, this is a lot of questions from a beginner. Thanks for bearing with me.
