One of the most frustrating aspects of learning the oboe is that lack of stamina limits your practicing time. There are ways to get around this problem and speed up the learning process. Brake down the playing into its single factors. For instance you can practice fingering on your instrument for as long as you want to without blowing the reed. You can practice breathing and diaphragm control where ever you can sit down, at work or at school. Put a reed in your mouth without crowing it, keep it there while driving your car or such. It's amazing how the strength and stamina of your emboucure benefits from this.l I still do this when I need to shape up for a performance. And too many beginners play on reeds that are too unresponsive, causing unneccesary fatigue. Teachers could perhaps be more aware of this.
