Ironically, this kind of oversoaking (dark orange bark) has actually saved some of my reeds! Typically, hateful reeds that just don't want to play no matter what I do to them: normally, the cane is waxy or soapy in texture.... it does not scrape like good cane.
The oversoaking incidents (by accident, forgot the reeds in a soaker for 24 hours) gave the reed some useful life: very good practicing reeds.
