I had my mother-in-law read through the first few pages of the Russian website with the picture of the red-coated 18th century oboist.
As nearly as we can tell, there is nothing whatsoever on the site that speaks to the identity of this fellow.
It does seem, however, to be a very nice site. It's sort of an online newspaper, with scads of information about the oboe and oboe playing, as well as many, many announcements of upcoming classical music events worldwide.
ALMOST makes me wish I could read a little Russian. Almost.
