I wonder if the change in fingering would necessitate the enlargement of some or most of the tone holes? Boehm system oboes have bigger tone holes, not sure if that was a direct result of using the sax fingering. If tone holes must get larger, the tone will get more strident, and will more than offset the benefit of easier fingering action.
