I guess I mean in days, but if you have a different measurement for your reed scraping routine, I'd be interested to hear your approach.
My example: I buy my cane gouged, folded, and shaped. Day 1, I tie on, then let dry. Day 2, I scrape the tip until it can be clipped, scrape a little more, and set the overlap. Day 3, I scrape the tip to sound, extend into the heart, and scrape the initial parts of the back. Day 4 and on, fine adjustments.
I'd say not until Day 4 would I consider it playable, but I don't think I'd call it performance ready. I guess it could be, but try to scrape minimally in the hopes that it would extend the life of the reed.
What routine works for you?
