Don't overlook the wonderful old recordings of Ravel, Debussy and Ibert of the Philadelphia Orchestra (Ormandy conducting) with John deLancie as principal oboe. These recordings are loaded with beautiful, elegant oboe playing. No one played the French music like deLancie did. Many of these old recordings have been re-released on CD for a very reasonable price.
Also, there is a wonderful old recording which is out of print of Marc Lifshey playing Bach Cantatas 46 and 82 with Mack Harrell (father of the great cellist Lynn Harrell), baritone. This is a treasure if you can find it.
There is also another recording which is loaded with gorgeous oboe (and other woodwind playing, for that matter). It is a recording of the Rachmaninov Symphonic Dances with the Philadelphia Orchestra conducted by Charles Dutoit.
