It's so personal! Indeed, you certainly are in a wonderful predicament here. Personally, I play the top-end Yamaha (and yes, as ohsuzan said, us Canadians are dying to tell you they are good :P but also many others are dying to tell you they are good, such as Richard Woodhams who's principal in the Philadelphia Orchestra!) and to be quite honest if you're not planning to be a professional, I would go for the Yamaha. They're *usually* made the most in tune and consistently, and they honestly are much more forgiving with bad reeds. The really good Lorees (a dying breed unfortunately) are unbelievable oboes when combined with the perfect reed, but again if you're not planning to fully devote yourself to oboe something like the Yamaha would probably be much more practical because it is extremely forgiving with bad reeds. Yes, they apparently crack more than some other instruments. If you're willing to wait another year or so, they're coming out with a plastic-lined top joint that will never crack. Also, they have a great all-plastic top joint on the market already.
