Susan, I'm glad that you started this great thread. It's given me a lot to think about this week, and I hope that you find a place on the reed spectrum that works well for this contemporary piece you mentioned. It sounds as though it's sending you on a great mission.
Crazily, I don't think I've ever read the Weber book. Or maybe I did as a kid. Time to correct that! Thanks for the reminder, Craig. Funny, I agree that tip of the tip scraping doesn't work for lowering the pitch, though I somewhere I inherited the impression that it should.
