And if a replacement is found, the chances of it fitting perfectly between the pillars will be fairly hit-and-miss.
Neither end of the key barrel can be swaged if it's too short as there are pieces soldered onto both ends, so shims will probably have to be used. If the key barrel is too long (which is better), then shortening it isn't a problem.
