I came away with a similar take about the attention to fine detail as a common theme across all the master classes for oboe and ehorn.
I usually go for big sound in orchestral settings and was pretty surprised at how quietly these guys played in recital or concert at times.
And their emphasis on stylistic detail around refined performance practice really noted in the baroque pieces was a wake-up call for me.
Another theme really sticks with me about constantly developing phrases so each one 'tells a different story' or restates something from a different perspective.
Good stuff. And good food for thought, something Peter Cooper really emphasized in his master class on the Strauss Concerto for Oboe.
And did I mention how much fun it was to finally meet you and your lovely wife? Icing on the cake of the week.
