Be it a Fossati or Marigaux, the oboist and ultimately his reed makes the sound that he wants. The "wild pony" as described could be the reed making it so.
Cocobolokid plays well on his Fossati and I am willing to bet my bottom dollar he will do the same on any other instrument.
