 adding brilliance to sound

Hello fellow bboarders, time for another reed question! What do you do in your scraping, regardless of style of reed, to enhance the brighter spectrum of the reed (adding ease as well if that is the side effect)? It may sound rather arrogant, but my reeds have actually been TOO dark recently, perhaps thanks to this batch of very hard Rigotti cane. What happens often is that everything falls if i take off too much to ease the reed, but strangely, this has not made the reed brighter! (I realize this to be a more short scrape specific question, but all opinions are welcome!)

Howard
