I wouldn't speak for Drew, but I think those pieces are indeed his own creations. Part of his D.M.A., maybe? Or maybe just something he whipped up in his spare time . . . when he's not sharpening knives.
Regardless of category, why in the world would anyone want to listen to music that is unpleasant? (By which I do not mean only saccharine or puerile.) You know the old Duke Ellington quote ("If it sounds good, it is good"). I would just turn that on its head and say, if it sounds bad, is is bad!
