Be aware of the opening of the reed. Finding the optimum playing position is vital for consistency. If the reed does not play like how you want it to play immediately, make it do so! That really is the difficulty in oboe playing.... consistency. Of course, be consistent yourself as well and the reed's consistency will be found. Robin's comments are really flattering, but i tend to think that one should be very careful about having too big of a resonance cavity. Having too big a cavity affects articulation. But tell that to Elaine Douvas or Stefan Schilli! Ha! Thomas Indermuhle said something very good about bringing the air in the mouth further down the throat to release the over loading of pressure built up (something that happens when you employ what i hope i paraphrased correctly in the video, thanks to Domaine Forget).
