I have been playing a newer Covey (Covey Classic, vintage 2003) for the past year. I just did my first recital with it this past Sunday, and I have to say, I was even surprised by the elegance of my own high notes!

In the right acoustic space, with a more-than-adequate reed, I was able to sustain very high (up to high F) pianissimos with spot-on intonation and almost a mystical sound. My friends were blown away -- they've never heard me play anywhere besides the Community Band, and didn't know that either I, or the instrument, had it in us.

So . . . another vote for the Covey Classic.
