Interesting. I know that guitar players use some sort of block on the strings to make the whole instrument play in a different key? As I also play the Clarinet, I use a short barrel on my B & H 10-10 and it is perfectly in tune? The long barrel just makes it play flat. Also the same principle can apply to Saxes (which I also play) if you push the mouthpiece in or out it is is still possible to play it in tune. Flute players (as you know I'm sure) simply tune the instrument by pushing the top joint in or out , it doesn't seem to affect the other notes as they stay in tune?
So by that principle, why would it cost up to £3000 ? to make a Cor Anglais play flatter? Why can't you just use a longer crook or simply pull it out a bit?
