Rachel ("Oboe Mother" on this board) just posted on Facebook that her son, Jacob, got a "1" rating today for his Solo & Ensemble Contest performance of an excerpt from Dvorak's Slavonic Dance Op.72 No. 2 in E minor.
I thought this would be of general interest to the board, since Rachel wrote a note here a month or so ago asking advice about how he should practice this.
Way to go, Jacob!
(Nice, work, Mom, too!)

Keep it up, Jacob!! We're all rooting for you!
And kudos to all mothers who 'allow' their children to take up the oboe.

Hurray, Jacob. And here is to you and all who support your musical passion.
Congratulations! Toast, and cheers, provided you are over age 21.
Otherwise, just keep practicing, making reeds, learning new music... its better anyway.
